It looks like the E30 we built for an old friend is proving to be extremely satisfying for the owner. He had an E36 M3 with a fully built IP-class BMW club racing engine in it, and we swapped the drivetrain into his replacement car, a 91 325is, after the M3 was totaled. We were happy to be able to help him out when he needed it, and he has put together a pretty cool homage site to the car - and, it seems, to us.

We are now a factory direct BREMBO brakes distributor.  We have so much cool information from them!   I wanted to post info about the age old question,  "which direction are my slotted rotors supposed to point?" To a lot of people it makes perfect sense to pull fresh air in from the outer section of the wheel/rotor toward the center.   The fact is, it doesnt have much to do with the slots, it is the internal vanes that dictate the direction of airlfow.  The best way to dissipate heat is to have he vanes PULL the air from the center toward the outer, getting the heat away from your wheel bearings and center assemblies.  I will be adding a full product update soon, plus common applications for both Big Brake Kits (BBK) as well as performance OE type upgrades so you can still run OE calipers.

Which direction should the discs rotate?

It is a popular misconception that the slots or drillings in a disc determine the direction of rotation. In truth, for an internally vented disc, the geometry of the vanes dictates the direction of rotation.

The curved vane disc is directional. A curved vane disc must be installed with the vanes running back from the inside to outside diameters in the direction of rotation.  Orienting the disc in the manner creates a centrifugal pump. The rotation of the disc causes air to be pumped from the center of the disc, through the vanes, and out through the outside diameter of the disc. This greatly enhances the disc's ability to dissipate heat.

Additionally, all of Brembo's slotted discs are directional as well, regardless of the vane geometry. The discs should be installed such that the end of the slot nearest the outer edge of the disc contacts the pad first.  

To me, this means that the slots actually turn opposite of the vanes on Brembo brakes.  So there it is.  Look at the internal vanes first and the externakl slots second.

Maybe we can get just a little more stuff crammed in before the end of the year!

Welcome to our new BLOG page!  A simple, informal way of us being able to let you know what is going on.  

Now that the busy holiday season has passed, things have slowed for just a little and allows for us to catch up a little and catch our breath.  

The PRI show was a HUGE success.  The biggest news;  we kicked off our new ViPec Engine Management System and fellow racers were very excited!  We hammered out new partnerships with lots of race teams and distributors.  Working together with partnering companies allows all of us to move forward together and develop new products with a minimum of risk.

So for the upcoming month we will be building harnesses, recording base maps, and doing our best to fulfill the orders we got at the show!  THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT! 

We also formed new relationships with suppliers of performance parts that will add nicely to our existing portfolio of parts.   Watch our products and online shopping for new additions in the upcoming weeks!
